La disparité fantastique

Led by Daisuke Ichiba
Assisted by Hiroko Pennec-Sato
20 participants

After a revelation, Daisuke Ichiba started drawing at the end of the ‘80s. Most of his work represents beautiful women, as in the traditional Japanese painting called Bijin-ga. However, Ichiba’s Bijin-ga is unique: a beautiful woman, alive and well, carries for exemple a bloody sword in the midst of shadows and sinister monsters. This combination of two diametrically opposed values creates a nostalgic atmosphere and tells stories of dreams or nightmares. Inspired by Dadaism and manga culture — notably George Akiyama — Daisuke Ichiba also reveals his world through photography and music. During this workshop with Ichiba, you will draw “the fantastic mismatch.”

Daisuke Ichiba also gives une performance avec Hedoromeruhen at Salle des Fêtes and a signing/exhibition at HumuS.
